Why I Care?

The professional and activist uses her connections in the community to help animals.

I was raised by a remarkable mother who taught me to think about those other than myself and she led by example. She always carried extra change with her just in case she would see someone who needed help when we went shopping in Detroit in the 1950’s. She would frequently bring less fortunate folks home for dinner some she knew and some were strangers.

AAmerican Child Foundation. Co-founded non-profit The American Child Foundation, utilizing photography as a tool to provide underprivileged children with an appreciation for, and knowledge about, the photographic arts.

BAdopt-A-Library program. Initiated the Adopt-A-Library program, donating a collection of books and publications to local Los Angeles libraries, which provided a flow of information and raised public awareness about the Community Associations Industry.

CExecutive Director of the Year. Singled out by Community Associations Institute (CAI), a national non-profit association representing America’s 205,000 community associations, as Executive Director of the Year for outstanding commitment to excellence, professionalism and service in 1992.
